Speakers – Alicja Leix

Alicja Leix

Alicja Leix uses both her psychological and linguistic academic background as a freelance researcher, language teacher, and teacher trainer. She cooperates with institutions like the National Institute for Education, National Institute for Professional Development, Czech Academy of Science or Judicial Academy. She publishes papers dealing with the various sociological and psychological aspects of education, e.g. an impact of international students exchanges to the reduction of stereotypes or teaching Czech to children-foreigners. Human memory with its ups and downs used to fascinate her when she was a student and still fascinates her as a teacher, mother, and court translator. At Masaryk University, she teaches Basic Mnemotechniques for Studying (not only) Languages and Presentation Skills.

Workshop: Memorizing: culture-proof and age-proof rules (yes, they exist)

Though researchers still bring new data about memory and passionate teachers all over the world still develop new ways how to help their pupils to learn better/faster/more fun etc., there is definitely not necessary to know all the novelties to be able to teach or study efficiently. There are some rules according to memorizing, which work practically always, with every student. During the workshop, participants will experience first hand how those essentials rules work and discuss ways of using them in practice. Knowing those rules is useful for teachers not only for planning classes but also when they want to memorize something on their own.
